The Prospect of a Good Trade

A lot of things land in my inbox, the potential for distraction is HUGE.

But I like a little distraction; I like stimulus from outside my daily bubble.

As time goes on I’m getting more discerning too, I’m being more deliberate about what I choose to read, watch and listen to.

One of the sites I enjoy being distracted by is The Good Trade, mostly because it serves up suggestions of music to listen to.

I like a wide range of music but I can honestly say, every artist they have recommended is completely new to me.

I’ve recently come across Prospect Magazine too, I think through Margaret Heffernen. Early days but I’m enjoying it so far.

What do you let into your inbox that inspires you? What makes you think? What is totally frivolous?

Let’s make a big ol’ list of guilty pleasures and ‘justifiable’ distractions.

What have you got to share….

  1. I’ve been decluttering my email subscriptions lately, like you, to be more discerning about what I read. I’ve got it down to the minimum but always up for exploring new ones so thanks for the ones you’ve suggested, Ill take a look. My absolute favourite is Maria Popova’s The Marginalian. She provides so much richness and variety, I love it. https://www.themarginalian.org/ I’m also enjoying the writing of Charles Eisenstein who is role modelling the gift economy which I’m really interested in. https://charleseisenstein.org/
